 Angola Work Visa – U.S. Citizens:
ALL ANGOLA VISA APPLICANTS MUST MAKE A PERSONAL APPEARANCE AT THE CONSULATE WHEN SUBMITTING DOCUMENTS FOR A VISA, WITHOUT EXCEPTION.
STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL WORK VISAS

  • A) Applicant’s Passport: original, undamaged; 3 consecutive blank visa pages and must valid for at least another 6 months beyond intended.
    • Foreign nationals residing in the USA also need to show Permanent Resident Card (the Green Card)
    • If applicant holds citizenship from a country that is a members of the visa waiver program must possess an actual US sticker stamp (Visa) in their passport in order to apply at Angola. Or be a holder of a green card.
  • B) 3 Visa Application Form: Fully completed typed and signed. Applications will not be accepted if they are not typed. If any spaces are not used they must be filled with N/A.
    • The consulate will reject applications that are not fully completed.

  • C) Photograph: 6 Passport-type photographs required. (No glasses, with the applicants face in plain view and ears must be showing). The applicant must also be wearing a button-up shirt with a tie. The consulate will only accept actual 2×2 passport type photographs from a reputable source, i.e. Kinko’s, Walgreens, CVS, etc. Photos printed at home or from an office printer will not be accepted under any circumstances. Photos that are sent in invalid format will be rejected and will cause a delay in submission at the traveler’s expense.

  • D) Business Letter: Copy of a contract signed by the representative of the company or organization employing, hiring or sponsoring the trip, stating specifically the job to be performed by applicant, the duration of the contract, as well as the fact that employer takes full financial responsibility for the applicant. This document needs to be authenticated by a Public Notary and should be addressed to The Consulate General in Houston.
    • Must contain the following information:
      • Full Name
      • Nationality
      • Name of Parents
      • Date of Birth
      • Number and validity of passport
      • Profession and job the individual will be preforming
  • E) Travel Itinerary: Copy of itinerary or flight tickets
  • F) Work Contract: A executed copy of the applicants work contract
  • G) Color copy of passport: A “color copy” of applicants identification and signature page of his or her passport
  • H) Yellow Fever Vaccination card: A “color copy” of your Yellow Fever Card is required
  • I) Police Clearance: A criminal record letter or certificate issued by the Authorities of the country where the applicant resides, translated into Portuguese, certified by a notary and by the Diplomatic and Consular Mission of Angola.
  • J) Copy of Diploma: Diploma/Certificate of academic and/or professional skills translated into Portuguese, certified by a notary and by the Diplomatic and Consular Mission of Angola.
  • K) Letter of Abide: Written by the applicant stating that he or she will abide by all of the Angolan laws. This letter needs to be translated into Portuguese and certified by a notary and by the Diplomatic and Consular Mission of Angola.
  • L) Medical Certificate: The completed and Original Medical Exam that states the applicant is free from disease and illness. This letter must be signed by a physician, and must include HIV test results and be printed on physician’s letterhead.
  • M) Letter of Invitation: Letter from the contracting entity to the Diplomatic and Consular Mission of Angola, with a copy to the Foreigners and Migration Services, requesting the visa and showing the following detail for the applicant.
    • Must be written in Portuguese
    • Must approves and stamped by the Ministry of Petroleum and Labor in Angola
    • Must be addressed to Consulate of Angola/Houston TX
    • Must contain the following information
      • Full Name
      • Nationality
      • Name of Parents
      • Date of Birth
      • Number and validity of passport
      • Profession and job the individual will be preforming.
  • N) Opinion issued by the competent Ministry
  • O) Documents that need to be translated into Portuguese and certified by a notary the Diplomatic and Consular Mission of Angola:
    • Copy of Applicants Diploma
    • Medical Certificate
    • Police Clearance
    • Letter of Abide
  • P) Important Information:
    • The Consulate General of the Republic of Angola in Houston now requires all applicants to appear at the consulate in person on Mondays and Wednesday’s between the hours of 9:30a.m. To 2:00 p.m. The applicants’ presence is mandatory unless he or she is a holder of a Diplomatic or Official Passport.
    • Applications can only be submitted on Mondays and Wednesdays, the pick up days are Friday only. For applications submitted on Monday, the estimated pick up day will be Friday of the same week, for applications submitted on Wednesday, the estimated pick up day is the Friday of the following week. Please keep in mind that the pick up dates are issued by the Consulate of Angola in Houston.
    • All applications and corresponding documents must be thoroughly checked before submission. The consulate has a zero tolerance for incorrect paperwork and will not refund visa fees due to errors.
    • Attention – If you were born in a Portuguese speaking country, you are required by the Angolan Consulate to show proof of health insurance.
  • Q) Validity:
    • The work visa enables the individual to remain in Angolan territory up to the term of the individual work contract, which may not exceed 36 months, according to Angola legislation (article 11, decree 6/01, January 19). The employer must request the renewal of the individual’s visa every 12 months, under penalty of violation of the article 102, Law #2/07, August 31.
    • The work visa is valid for multiple entries into Angolan territory, it dies not allow for permanent residence, and the individual’s passport must be valid for at least 6 months over the period of time authorized for permanence in the visa (paragraph a), item 1, article 13 of the same Law).
    • The work visa must be used within 60 days after it has been granted, after which visa will be deemed invalid.
